Linda Ikeji began trending on social media after the death of Mayowa Ahmed was announced.
Ikeji and Toyin Aimakhu were accused of contributing to Mayowa’s death.
Mayowa was a stage 1V cancer patient whose online appeal for fund (#SaveMayowa) raised over 80 million Naira and additional 100,000 Dollars to send her abroad for treatment.
Aimakhu who supported the fund-raising later alleged that #SaveMayowa was a scam and Ikeji broke the story that it was a scam in her blog.
The police, after investigating the allegations, said the controversy was a misunderstanding between the parties involved.
The police also lifted the ban on the “gofundme” account where the funds had been frozen.
Mayowa was later flown to South Africa for treatment on the 10th of August.
Many Twitter users accused Ikeji of reporting #SaveMayowa as a scam to drive traffic to her blog.
