Enugu state, better referred to as the 'COAL CITY', because of her immense natural coal deposit exploit, is a cosmopolitan state in the southeastern Nigeria, created in 1991 from the old Anambra State & which has made milestone political impacts & incursions, in the political trajectory of the eastern region & indeed, Nigeria.
It's capital and largest city is Enugu, from which the state derives its name. The principal cities in the state are Enugu, Nsukka, Agbani and Awgu.
Enugu state, has 17 local government areas & about 402 autonomous communities put together, including Umuode & sitting on a land mass of 7,161km2.
It has a population of 3,267,837 million people, as at the national census, held in 2006.
This uncommon population made up of mainly, peasant farmers & other ingenious people, are known for their mythical hospitality, honesty & hard work, which are the hallmarks of NDI ENUGU.
In fact, there is a legendary postulation and belief in the public domain, especially, in the southeastern part of Nigeria, that the best wife materials & other reliable partners, are found predominantly, within the precinct of Enugu state.
Enugu state economy is buoyed with agricultural potentials, amongst which are:
(1)Yam
(2) Cocoyam(ede & nkashi).
(3)Cassava(used also for computer chips),
(4) Oil palm products( remember, the scales of the palm kernel nuts, could be used for floor tiling in cambodia, Vietnam, etc) & therefore an economic viability.
(5) Rice (in commercial quantity),
(6)cashew(also in commercial quantity)
(7)Maize & others.
From the aforementioned, it becomes indisputable & very obvious, that Enugu state is blessed indeed, with abundant agricultural endowments & sundry prowees.
Its worthy of note, that Enugu state, has played host & still remains the preferred residential destination of quasi all the prominent Igbo sons & daughters, state of origin not withstanding.
Enugu state, was created from the old Anambra state, on the 27th day of August, 1991 & ever since, has remained an epicenter of grandiose rendezvous in both the economic, political & social aggregations of the entire Southeast region.
Enugu state is also known for its unique & sumptuous cuisine, with special emphasis on our legendary & exquisite 'OKPA' delicacy and our unbeatable palm wine, to step same down.
Enugu state is also known for her robust industrial inclination & inventions, putting into consideration, the COAL CAMP syndrome & her ingenious artisan nomenclature & inventors capability of replicating/Cloning any needed mechanical/electrical item, presented for spares & the presence of the famous & unfortunately, moribund 'PRODA' institute.
We should also, not forget that the same coal camp, has a stupendous commercial natural deposit of coal, which in the fifties, had on its employment window, more than 8,000 employees.
This singular natural deposit, if harnessed properly, is capable of injecting more sanguine into the economic life stream of Enugu state, with its attendant employment opportunities, for our teeming unemployed youths.
Coal also, could take over the unfriendly use of fire wood, whose felling, causes deforestation & therefore, hostile to the ecosystem.
The adoption of coal for cooking, in place of fire wood, shall endear Enugu state, to the European union & the Green parties across the globe, British council & others, with its accruing financial & diplomatic benefits.
Enugu state is sitting on an inestimable untapped natural & agricultural patrimony, that if & when purposefully harnessed, could dwarf our earnings in oil & gas.
Enugu state, is indeed, blessed, not only on agricultural viabilities, but also, on our enviable evergreen mangroves, that are about, in the entirety of her precincts
VIVA 042!.
God bless Enugu state!
God bless NDI ENUGU!!
God bless Nigeria!!!.
