A Lagos based Igbo community leader, Engr Patrick Mba has cautioned the Igbos against leading the ongoing protests across the country, warning that the tide may turn against them similar to what happened during the civil war where over 3 million igbos were slaughtered by the federal force.
"Igbo celebrities & youths should not and must not be at the vanguard of the ongoing protest, rather, they should key & weigh in, where the initiators, the engineers & architects of the protest, with its accompanying executional master plan, have gotten to & continue with them, following their footsteps & their leading navigational compass, as we're also both victims & rebuffers of the brutality & criminalities of not only the Nigeria police force, the military, but also, the federal government of Nigeria. But that notwithstanding, we must not champion this protest, nor blaze it up. Ndigbo championed this same cause, 53years ago, through the Aburi conference & was diversely labelled & rebuffed by the other compatriots, as rebels & unpatriotic, which caused the south east of Nigeria, a colossal & monumental loss of about three million lives, in a fractricidal war that lasted for 30months.
Now that they've woken up, from their selected slumber, we should only but say, a very good morning to them & join their agitation, but must never lead this revolution, otherwise, they will treacherously abandon us again & call it an Igbo protest, once beaten, twice shy, says an axiom!!!.
The Nigerian state, at this juncture, does not worth the blood of any Igbo person. They've spilled & sucked so much of our blood, both through their various pogroms, that preceded the civil war, the civil war itself, the several northern massacres of Ndigbo, at the least provocation, both before & after the infamous civil war, which persists till today. Ndigbo should therefore, go into a sober reflections & introspections on our chequered travails in the contemporary Nigerian state, & embrace the siddon dey look syndrome, at least for once & allow other gladiators, to go for the soul of Nigeria. Our celebrities & youths, should therefore, be smarter, mindful & thinkful, which are the real hallmarks of a true Igbo person. The protest is a very good omen, that needs our supports, but NDIGBO must not be at the forefront, this time around.
GOD BLESS THE NIGERIAN YOUTHS!!! God bless Ndigbo!!!!.
